Budapest ! day 2

Morning breaks. I am up at the crack of dawn. (No, not someone called Dawn.. ;-) Need food. After a quick run down to the breakfast bar, I was rather disappointed in not finding my usual fry-up. Cold meat and out of date yoghurt. *sigh* I had it anyway along with some toast. This was NOT what I had expected as food, but oh well, we will find something else.
Today’s planned event was Cross Country Quad Biking. Oooooeer. Without a hint of a hangover and loads of water and energy drink, I was set. The guide came to collect us in a minibus. After a 40 minute journey to the quad center we all arrived all excited. Our immediate impressions were ‘Yay we are here. Uhm… this is a track, where is the cross country bit..’. Of course the organisers wanted to make sure we had the right equipment first. We got changed into some coveralls, gloves, masks and of course helmets. We were set. Almost. We needed our quads. After a photoshoot, we moved to where they had the quads all parked up and ready to go. We were instructed on where the accellerator and brakes were. The rest was up to you. After a few circles in the yard, we were ready to go out. The guide showed us how to go down muddy inclines, through streams without getting the quad stuck. Fab. The first section was really nice, hard ground with very little mud. As we progressed the terrain got better (worse?). It was a lot of fun learning the more finer things about riding the quad. Especially leaning forward and accellerating into a wheel spin and a mudshower! Poor suckers behind you. Black sheep..The entire trip was about 4 hours where we got stuck in really deep mud, went past some frozen puddles that turned into icy mush after we passed through. Some of us got very dirty. Really dirty, but this is what all the fun is about. After the trip we had some Hungarian goulash. Although it filled the spot, I got terrible heartburn. Oh well. Once back at the hotel went for a quick shower and then a wee rest because we were exhausted. After about 2 hours sleep, it was time to freshen up and have some beer. The first beer of the day. The nighttime promised some more fun. Dinner was at a very nice Italian restuarant. Of course we had loads of schnapps after the dinner. The first stop after dinner was an exotic club. We watched some exoticness and of course chatted up some of the girls. If you were watching the stage, it was free. If you wanted a lap dance, it was about 10 000 forint. (£30). At 500 forint for beer and all the free women you can watch as a collective audience, I decided it was cheaper to enjoy it that way.
The next stop was a club called Cactus Juice. Weird name. We got loads of beer and the place started to fill up. After a lot of dancing and beerage some people started to fade. I was not one of them. Thankfully. After some kebabs very early in the morning we walked home in the snow. It was ‘fun’ herding people back to the hotel.

Budapest ! day 1

We (some friends and myself) decided to go to Budapest for a stag weekend. We all paid our dues and waited patiently for the time come. It finally arrived on 23 Feb. It was also my birthday on that day (honest, didn’t plan it this way.. ;-) Stuart, my cousin and myself had to travel from Glasgow to Amsterdam to Budapest with KLM. The other chaps were flying from Luton directly to Budapest with EasyJet. No idea who had the better trip. We departed very early in the morning and checked our stuff in. We were set. One minor stop to collect some foreign currency for Budapest. Once that formality was disposed with, we promptly headed for the bar for the first ‘Happy Birthday’ drink for the day. We managed one drink before we got called. While on the flight the flight attendant wished me happy birthday and plied us with more drinks. *yay* it was off to a good start already. At the end of the flight, she gave us even *more* drinks. We were well chuffed. Once in the airport, we headed directly to the pub to settle in for more beer. We had a pint in some coffee shop, then spotted a Murphy’s Bar. We got some more free beer there while we waited for our flight. The publican was a fab guy. Once back on the aircraft heading for Budapest, we got more ‘treatment’ from the staff. Nice. The flight was not really full so we managed to get a lot of space for ourselves. Drinking in the pub This was a godsend as we needed some ‘resting time’. After a few more beers on the flight we finally landed in Budapest. The count at this stage was approximately 10 beers. I don’t know whether they were alcohol free, but we were in remarkably good shape for the trip so far. At Budapest we arrived about 100 minutes before the other chaps. Well. We had some food and more beer. (As you do..) We made the transfer to the terminal where the other chaps were arriving. While we were waiting we met up with Szilvia, who was the guide we had booked for the trip. She was beautiful. (At least a high score on the pintometer ;-) The limo was there as promised and we made our way to the hotel. We had some champagne and some entertainment in the limo. After we had booked into the hotel, the other chaps felt it was time for some food and beer. We could not refuse. Honestly. We had some pizza with some vicious chillies on them. After dousing the inferno with more beer we were set for a night out. Finally. At this stage Stuart and myself had lost count of the amount of beer we had consumed. It was a lot I think. We also lost the scorecard. Bummer. We went to a few clubs, danced like mad. The lassies were nice and well, we had loads of fun. I remember the one club where they had topless women dancing in among the crowd. *Phwooaaar* After yet more drinks we finally went back to the hotel. It was once hectic day for drinking beer.
