Budapest ! day 2
Morning breaks. I am up at the crack of dawn. (No, not someone called Dawn..
Need food. After a quick run down to the breakfast bar, I was rather disappointed in not finding my usual fry-up. Cold meat and out of date yoghurt. *sigh* I had it anyway along with some toast. This was NOT what I had expected as food, but oh well, we will find something else.
Today’s planned event was Cross Country Quad Biking. Oooooeer. Without a hint of a hangover and loads of water and energy drink, I was set. The guide came to collect us in a minibus. After a 40 minute journey to the quad center we all arrived all excited. Our immediate impressions were ‘Yay we are here. Uhm… this is a track, where is the cross country bit..’. Of course the organisers wanted to make sure we had the right equipment first. We got changed into some coveralls, gloves, masks and of course helmets. We were set. Almost. We needed our quads. After a photoshoot, we moved to where they had the quads all parked up and ready to go. We were instructed on where the accellerator and brakes were. The rest was up to you. After a few circles in the yard, we were ready to go out. The guide showed us how to go down muddy inclines, through streams without getting the quad stuck. Fab. The first section was really nice, hard ground with very little mud. As we progressed the terrain got better (worse?). It was a lot of fun learning the more finer things about riding the quad. Especially leaning forward and accellerating into a wheel spin and a mudshower! Poor suckers behind you.
The entire trip was about 4 hours where we got stuck in really deep mud, went past some frozen puddles that turned into icy mush after we passed through. Some of us got very dirty. Really dirty, but this is what all the fun is about. After the trip we had some Hungarian goulash. Although it filled the spot, I got terrible heartburn. Oh well. Once back at the hotel went for a quick shower and then a wee rest because we were exhausted. After about 2 hours sleep, it was time to freshen up and have some beer. The first beer of the day. The nighttime promised some more fun. Dinner was at a very nice Italian restuarant. Of course we had loads of schnapps after the dinner. The first stop after dinner was an exotic club. We watched some exoticness and of course chatted up some of the girls. If you were watching the stage, it was free. If you wanted a lap dance, it was about 10 000 forint. (£30). At 500 forint for beer and all the free women you can watch as a collective audience, I decided it was cheaper to enjoy it that way.
The next stop was a club called Cactus Juice. Weird name. We got loads of beer and the place started to fill up. After a lot of dancing and beerage some people started to fade. I was not one of them. Thankfully. After some kebabs very early in the morning we walked home in the snow. It was ‘fun’ herding people back to the hotel.
